Nicholas Comfort writes obituaries for the Daily Telegraph. Since 1995 over 700 have appeared, with as many more prepared against the eventual need to use them. Most are of politicians, but he has also profiled senior civil servants, trade union leaders, sculptors, footballers and railway preservationists.

Recent subjects have included Lord Tebbit, the British Rail and Shell chairman Sir Bob Reid, Peter Taffe (founder of the Militant Tendency), Alex Salmond and Lord Prescott.

Most recently I have contributed pieces on HS2, why Britain needs nuclear power expertise from China, and “I sold my wife’s clothes to help pay her care home fees”.

His other regular string is Today’s Railways, supplying news coverage each month and occasional features.

He also contributes one-off pieces to other periodicals.

He is always interested in new journalistic projects.
